October/November 2002

COMMODORE’S CORNER

What a great season!! We’ve come a long way since this time last year. Our last race of the season at North Sea was a great success. We had a total of 32 entries.

Now, it’s time to look forward and plan for the 2003 racing season. Nominations will be conducted at our October meeting and elections will take place at our November meeting. There are many ideas in the works. Please plan to attend the monthly meetings. Remember it”s OUR club; it’s up to everyone to do their part.

The beginning of September was a busy one for boat racing. Congratulations to all of those who placed at Lock Haven, PA and Taunton, MA Many of our members attended those races and did very Well. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Thank you to everyone who made the 2002 racing season a very successful one.

SEE YOU OCTOBER 17th

EORC Results from Lockhaven
We had about a dozen EORC members participating at Lockhaven this year. And almost all of them came home with wins. I don’t have the official report, but congratulations go out to Dave Young Mike Young Doug Pearsall, Eric Peterson, and last but certainly not least, Nicole Muller. Each won in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in their classes. Way to go, team!

NORTH SEA RACE—Sunday, September 22
We had a fabulous time at North Sea on the 22nd. It was a beautiful day and we had a good showing of boats on the water as well as spectators. Thank you everyone for your support. Welcome, once again, to Chuck Heffentreyer and John and Sean Waltz for traveling all the way from PA to join in the fun. It’s even more fun when you place, as John and Sean each did (see results above).

Congratulations to Mike Young for obtaining sponsorship from Hustler Boats for the North Sea race. And Mike did not let his sponsor down...he took first place in B stock runabout, much to the joy of Chip Fendt from Hustler who was there to watch the race. Mike also had another interesting moment on the course when one of the Rusnak boats he was running lost the bottom. Mike was going for it and then he was sinking. It was hysterical! (Sluggo award, perhaps?)
