COMMODORE’S CORNER

Our 2003 Elections have come and gone. Check out this newsletter for the results. Congratulations to all of our officers and thank you for serving.
What does the coming year have in store for EORC? Even though the racing season Is over, the members of EORC are still hard at work promoting the dub, looking for new race sites and getting their rigs ready for the new season. Remember, the success of the 2003 racing season depends on all of us.
Our Banquet will be held on Saturday January 18, 2003. Check out the banquet section of the newsletter for more details.
I’m currently working out the details for us to participate in the 1st Annual Suffolk County Boat Show. The event will be held at the Suffolk Community College Sports & Exhibition center in Brentwood on March 7-9 2003. I’m working out a deal with the event promoters to get us in for a nominal fee. My hope is to display two boats, a few engines, hopefully a video, and most of all handout material. This event will require a helping hand from all members. If we spread out the time manning the booth it will only require a few hours from our members. If you have any questions regarding the show, please call me ASAP (516-312-8735). If I don’t hear any major objections, I’m going to book this by Christmas.

Annual Awards Banquet
Saturday, January 18, 2003, 7 p.m. Elks Lodge, Main Street, Riverhead
This date has now been confirmed. We will do what we have always done. $10 Admission, Covered Dish, Cash Bar, Chinese Auction and 50/50 Raffle. Carol Terry is coordinating the food for the banquet. Please call her at 631-4234204 to discuss what you want to bring. Please be sure to bring a donation for the Chinese Auction.
SSOA Awards Banquet
SSOA has been kind enough to reschedule their banquet so we don’t conflict. Their banquet will now be held on Saturday, January 1 1 at the Lafayette Club in Taunton and the cost will be $ 10.00 for adults and $ 5.00 for children. There will be a 50/50 drawing, an auction and music.
